Introduction
EC Team is very excited and looking forward to the Mahavir Janma Kalyanak (MJK) Celebration!
Like we have done every year, we wish to raise the bar for the Celebration and request whole-hearted participation and support from Performers, Coordinators, and the entire Sangh. We hope to have the most amazing and memorable MJK Celebration this year. We thank all the contributors, coordinators, participants, choreographers, writers, directors, and parents for their time and efforts.
Noteworthy Changes from 2023
We have incorporated feedback from our 2023 Celebration to improve our overall Celebration.
- We will ensure that our program starts on time, flows very well, highlights our talented performers equitably, and ends on time. Our Swami-Vatsalya Dinner also will start at pre-announced time.
- This year we plan to live stream the performance for the benefit of our far away families and friends
- A mandatory Dress Rehearsal is scheduled for the day prior to the event to avoid any last minute surprises and delays. Each coordinator will have to ensure participation from his/her team and convey any absences to JSSD MJK coordinators well in advance.

- If a group is performing, there must be a group coordinator who will coordinate with MJK coordinator and submit a form on behalf of the group. (Only 1 submission per group)
- Each Performance needs to arrange for their own volunteer if assistance is needed during the performance like stage setup / prop setup.

- Minimum 5 participants for skit and 5 participants for dance.

- We request Performance Coordinators to ensure that performances are honoring the sanctity of the MJK Celebration and performers are dressed accordingly.
- Auditorium Reservations
- Slots are in 45 minute increments
- Each group can book one slot – 45 mins max on Sundays (including pathshala days)
- Rest of the days, booking one multiple slot is permissible.
- Safety at the Center is paramount. Exercise caution if evening slots are booked. Ensure no one is left unattended or alone. Coordinators must ensure norms are followed and reach out to EC coordinators if needed.
Audio, Video, & Presentation Requirements:

- Audio Recording
- You can borrow a MIC from the Jain Center. You can connect that to your laptop using a USB C port. With this microphone you can achieve great recording. Instructions below –
- Find a quiet place
- With the microphone adapter, connect it to the USB C port of your laptop.
- Use open source software such as Audacity on Windows PC and Garageband on a Mac.

- Here is quick Tutorial how to use it : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vlzOb4OLj94 & https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLqazFFzUAPc7XJjOcH4iPDoIeFHA_eyKh
- While handling the microphone, ensure that microphone is stable in their hands before the kids start speaking. Any small hand movement while holding the microphone will be captured in the recording.
- Ensure that there is no loud background noise such as fans, microwave, cars passing by, etc. All these will get captured.
- Do not send the files via whatsapp. Whatsapp compresses the quality. Use the folder provided by MJK coordinators to upload the file.
- Alternatively you can use the Audacity Tool and a Mic below to do the recording. Audacity can be installed only on laptops.

- Slides
- We recommend that you provide us with just one video file. In the video, as the dialog progresses, slides should be synced to it. This will avoid any confusion as to when to change slides. We won’t be able to handle separate jpgs and audio files.
- Slide Template is here → MJK 2024 – since everyone will make changes in the same file, please make sure not to overwrite others’ slides. Also we highly recommend that everyone work in Google Sheets rather than formatting elsewhere. This will really help keep the presentation consistent.
- For comparison, MJK 2023 Powerpoint is here (View only) – MJK 2023
- We will be compiling a 2-3 minute “teaser” video as we get close to MJK event date. Each coordinator can share practice photo and video montages (no more than 15 seconds of video and 4-5 pictures).
- You can borrow a MIC from the Jain Center. You can connect that to your laptop using a USB C port. With this microphone you can achieve great recording. Instructions below –
- A separate folder for uploading the files will be shared with each coordinator. Please upload files per instructions above to minimize 1:1 queries.
- During the performance, coordinator designees will be able to help with slideshow from the AV booth
- The AV team will publish a short video with QR code on how to operate the AV system during the practice. Please look for the video link shortly.
- Audio Recording
Additional Requirements under consideration:
- Extra changing rooms – EC is reviewing this. Potential options are (a) south two rooms with partition (b) storage room
- JSSD Banner at the top of the stage
- Youtube Live Stream – coordinators will be able to monitor the performances via youtube app on their phone
- Overflow TV Projection – permanent TV will be installed in the Dining Hall for overflow viewing
- Boxed meals will be provided on the dress rehearsal day. More details to follow.
Performance Sequencing and Special Requests :
- Please note that sequencing of each performance will not be known or guaranteed or shared till almost the last week of the event. This is due to numerous changes, EC events (fundraising, various updates, etc.), plus participant alignment when two or more performances need to be considered.
- You may request special consideration however it will not be guaranteed. We appreciate your understanding in avoiding unnecessary and unproductive discussions in this matter.
- We will aim to ensure each participant and performance is recognized no matter what the age or type of performances are and are taking steps to ensure most viewership is available throughout the performance.
